Junk Removal in
Parkrose, Gateway & Argay
NE Portland's transit hub (97220, 97230) — post-war ranch homes and Argay's leafy streets wrapped around the Gateway MAX center and its apartment complexes, home to diverse working families. Two jobs run all year here: a same-day apartment move-out cleared between leases, and a ranch basement, garage, or yard emptied out. Either way it's one flat photo price, carried out by us, with no Oregon sales tax on top.
Apartment turnover and ranch cleanouts at the transit hub
Parkrose, Gateway, and Argay sit at the crossroads of northeast Portland — where I-84, I-205, and the MAX all meet at the Gateway transit center, ringed by apartment complexes and backed by streets of post-war ranch single-family homes and Argay's quieter blocks. It's a diverse, hardworking part of the city, and the junk-removal work splits neatly into two lanes that keep us busy all year.
The first is apartment move-out: the complexes around Gateway turn over constantly, and every lease-end leaves a unit with a couch, a mattress, and a pile of what didn't make the move. We clear the whole thing same-day when we can, carry it down and out, and quote it flat from a photo. The second is the ranch cleanout: these post-war homes often have basements and attached garages, and decades in, those fill with furniture, tools, and yard-shed overflow. We empty the below-grade level, the garage, and the yard, carry it all out ourselves, and price it as one flat truck-fill. Oregon has no sales tax, so whichever job it is, the number you're quoted is the number you pay.
What we haul in Parkrose & Gateway
- Apartment move-outs — a whole unit cleared between leases, couch and mattress and boxes, in one trip.
- Ranch basement & garage cleanouts — the below-grade level and the attached garage emptied and carried out.
- Yard & shed debris — brush, branches, old fencing, and the back-of-the-lot pile, in the same load.
- Single-family truck-fill — a house full of accumulated stuff, or a room at a time, quoted flat by volume.
- Appliances — washers, dryers, and fridges with the freon handled and the metal recycled.

Move-out week, handled fast
When a lease ends near Gateway, timing is everything — the unit has to be empty before the walkthrough, and the last thing anyone wants is a couch and a mattress they can't move blocking the day. That's exactly the window we're built for. Photograph the unit, get a flat price back in seconds, and we come out — same-day when we can — to carry the furniture down, out past the parked cars, and away, so you hand over clean keys and skip the deposit fight. It's one flat number for the whole unit, no per-item tally, and no sales tax to tack on at the end.
Why not the city's bulky pickup?
The City of Portland bulky-waste program can grab a single item at the curb, but it's curbside-only, priced per item with an $18 trip fee plus $6–$51 an item, and it takes up to seven days. That doesn't fit a move-out on a deadline or a full ranch basement — you'd be dragging everything to the curb yourself, paying per piece, and waiting a week. One flat truck-fill is usually cheaper for a real cleanout and always faster: we carry it out of the unit or the basement for you and haul it the same day when we can, with no per-item math and no tax.
Where it goes after
We keep as much out of the landfill as we can — it's the Portland way and it holds our price down. Usable furniture and household goods go to Goodwill of the Columbia Willamette, Community Warehouse, or Habitat's ReStore; mattresses and box springs are recycled free under Oregon's stewardship program; TVs and computers go to Oregon E-Cycles at no charge; and old washers, dryers, and fridges get their metal recycled after the freon is recovered. Diverting all of it lowers our disposal cost, which is part of why the flat value stays real out here.
