The City of Portland does offer bulky-waste pickup. Before you pay anyone, it’s worth knowing whether you qualify.
The program covers houses, duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes. Apartment residents are told to ask their property manager.
You arrange it with the franchised hauler that serves your street. Renters must have the landlord request it, since the landlord holds the account.
The city asks you to call at least a week ahead and not to set anything on the curb before the scheduled day.
Each piece carries a city-set fee, and you still have to get everything to the curb yourself — basement stairs included.
If you own a house, can wait a week and can carry things outside, the city program may suit you.
