The Hollywood District takes its name from the Hollywood Theatre, which opened on Sandy Boulevard in 1926. Around it, Rose City Park and its neighbors are 1920s bungalows and Tudors, most with basements.
Those basements became family rooms, and family-room couches are heavy, wide and rarely built to come apart.
