Sellwood-Moreland
Craftsman bungalows and Foursquares with full unfinished basements, detached garages, and decades of damp Pacific-Northwest storage — that's the Sellwood job. We clear the whole basement or attic, carry it up the stairs ourselves, and because you're in Antique Row's backyard, we set aside anything worth saving and route it to donation or consignment with a receipt. Flat photo-quoted price, same-week scheduling, and no Oregon sales tax.
The full-basement cleanout, in Antique Row's backyard
Sellwood-Moreland (97202) is old-Portland family stock: Craftsman bungalows and Foursquares on tidy blocks, most of them sitting over a full unfinished basement with a detached garage out back. Unlike the slab-built cities, Portland houses have real basements — which means real accumulation. Thirty years of holiday bins, broken furniture, paint cans, warped bookshelves, and boxes that have gone soft in the damp all end up down there, and eventually somebody has to clear it: a sale, a downsizing, a parent's home, or just the reclaiming of a room. That basement clear-out — carried up the stairs, not staged at a curb — is the signature job we do here.
There's a Sellwood wrinkle, too. This is Antique Row (SE 13th), and in a neighborhood built on old things, "wait — is any of this worth something?" is a genuine question, not a throwaway line. So we treat it like one: we set aside pieces that could resell, route usable furniture and goods to donation or consignment, and hand you a tax receipt for what's donated. What's truly done gets recycled or disposed of the honest way. You get one flat photo-quoted price that covers the labor, the carry-up, the sorting, and the disposal — no hourly meter, and no tax line, because Oregon doesn't have one.
What we clear in Sellwood
- Full basement cleanouts — the whole unfinished basement emptied and swept, carried up the stairs by us.
- Attic clear-outs — decades of boxes and stored goods brought down before a sale or a listing.
- Detached garage cleanouts — tools, tires, lumber, and the stuff that migrated out of the house.
- Downsizing & parent-home clears — right-sizing a bungalow, with the good pieces donation- and consignment-routed.
- Furniture & appliances — damp, warped, and heavy pieces pulled from below grade; freon handled on old fridges and freezers.

Where it goes after we load it
Portland cares where its stuff ends up, and so do we. Resellable furniture and household goods go to Goodwill of the Columbia Willamette, Community Warehouse, or Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, or onto a consignment path if it's Antique-Row-worthy — and you get the donation receipt. Old mattresses and box springs are recycled free under Oregon's new stewardship program instead of landfilled. TVs, monitors, and computers go to Oregon E-Cycles at no charge, and the metal in that old chest freezer gets recycled. Diverting all of that isn't just good for the river — it keeps our disposal cost down, which is part of why the flat price stays flat.
What Sellwood customers say
"Thirty years of stuff in the basement of our Moreland Foursquare — half of it damp, some of it good. They carried every bit up the stairs, set aside a few pieces for donation and gave me the receipt, and swept it clean. Fair flat price."
"Clearing my dad's bungalow before we listed it — full attic, packed garage. They were kind about it, routed the usable furniture to Community Warehouse, and quoted the whole thing flat from photos. No sales tax was a nice surprise."
"Old chest freezer and a couch out of the basement. Freon handled, carried up the stairs, gone same week. Easy, honest, and they actually recycle."
