Junk Removal Mississippi & Williams

Junk Removal on
Mississippi & Williams

Inner N/NE Portland is where the old and the new sit side by side — restored Victorians and Old-Portland Foursquares along Boise-Eliot (97227/97212), and a wall of fresh infill condos and townhomes on the N Mississippi and Williams corridors. So the work splits two ways: move-in debris off the new blocks and full-basement cleanouts under the old ones — including the growing job of clearing a basement or garage to make room for an ADU. Flat photo-quoted price, carried up and out by us, and no Oregon sales tax.

Where new infill meets old Foursquares

Few parts of Portland have changed as fast as the Mississippi and Williams corridors. This is the historically Black inner-N/NE — the Albina heart — and today it's a layered neighborhood: restored Victorians and Old-Portland Foursquares that families have held for generations, threaded with dense new condos and townhomes that went up on the old commercial strips. That layering is exactly why the junk work here is two different jobs. The new buildings generate move-in debris — the mountain of flattened boxes and packaging that follows any move — while the old houses hold full basements that eventually need clearing for a sale, a downsizing, or an ADU build.

We do both, and we price both the same honest way: send a photo, get a flat number that already covers the labor, the carry-up, the drive, and the disposal. No hourly meter, no "call for a quote," and no tax line, because Oregon doesn't have one. The one thing that never changes here is the carry — on the old blocks the stuff lives down a full flight of basement stairs, and we bring every bit of it up ourselves.

What we clear on Mississippi & Williams

  • Foursquare & Victorian basement cleanouts — decades of damp storage brought up the stairs and out, the basement left swept.
  • New-build move-in debris — flattened boxes, foam and plastic packaging, and damaged pieces off a fresh move, cleared in one trip.
  • Basement & garage clears for an ADU — empty the space to the walls so the accessory-dwelling build can start clean.
  • Generational downsizing — right-sizing a family home, at a humane pace, with the good pieces donated.
  • Furniture & appliances — sofas, dressers, and old fridges and freezers, with the freon recovered on cooling units.

Move-in debris on the new blocks

Every new townhome and condo on Mississippi and Williams comes with the same aftermath: a garage or a spare room stacked with flattened moving boxes, foam corners, plastic wrap, and the packaging off every new appliance and piece of furniture — plus whatever got damaged in the move and won't go into the new place. It piles up fast and none of it fits a curbside bin. We haul the whole heap in one flat-priced trip, break down and divert the recyclable cardboard and packaging instead of dumping it, and leave the new place ready to actually live in. If a renovation came with it — old flooring, a torn-out vanity, drywall offcuts — that goes too, priced by the cubic yard.

Basement cleanouts & clearing for an ADU

Unlike the slab-built Sunbelt cities, Portland's old stock has real basements — and the Foursquares and Victorians of Boise-Eliot have deep ones that fill over the decades with holiday bins, broken furniture, paint cans, and boxes gone soft in the damp. Clearing one is the signature job, and it's carried up the stairs, not staged at a curb. There's a newer version of it, too: Portland's pro-ADU policy means a lot of owners here want to clear the basement or the detached backyard garage to build an accessory dwelling — a rental, a place for family, an office. We empty the space to the walls, carry it all up and out, and set aside anything worth saving so the build starts on a clean slate.

Downsizing a family home, handled with respect

A real share of the old houses here have belonged to the same families for generations — homes at the center of the historically Black Albina community, held through decades of change on these blocks. When one of those homes is downsized or passed on, the clear-out is never just hauling, and we don't treat it that way. We work at a humane, unhurried pace, keep the crew respectful and low-key, set aside anything that carries meaning for the family to keep, and route the usable furniture and goods to donation with a receipt. The price is quoted flat up front so there's no meter running while a family sorts through a lifetime, and we can spread a big job across more than one day when that's what it takes.

Where it goes after

Portland cares where things end up, and this neighborhood especially so. Resellable furniture and household goods go to Goodwill of the Columbia Willamette, Community Warehouse, or Habitat's ReStore, with a donation receipt when you want one. Mattresses and box springs are recycled free under Oregon's stewardship program; TVs, monitors, and computers go to Oregon E-Cycles at no charge; the cardboard and packaging off a move-in gets recycled; and metal appliances are recycled after the freon's recovered. Diverting all of it is good for the river and keeps our disposal cost down — part of why the flat price stays fair.

What Mississippi & Boise-Eliot customers say

★★★★★

"We bought a new townhouse off Mississippi and the garage was buried in flattened boxes and packaging from the move. They hauled the whole pile in one trip, actually recycled the cardboard, and it was a flat price from a couple of photos. So easy."

— Alicia W., Mississippi
★★★★★

"My grandmother's Foursquare on Williams had been in the family for decades, and downsizing it was hard. They were patient and respectful about the whole thing, carried a full basement up the stairs, and gave me donation receipts. It meant a lot that they didn't rush us."

— Terrance J., Boise-Eliot
★★★★★

"We're building an ADU in the old garage and needed it cleared to the walls. They emptied it in an afternoon, donated the stuff worth keeping, and quoted it flat up front. No sales tax at the end, which I keep forgetting is an Oregon thing."

— Hannah L., Williams
